Hargray Fiber Expands Partnership with Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners to Provide Fiber Connectivity to Innovation Center

PEACHTREE CORNERS, Ga. – July 27, 2020 – Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners and Hargray Fiber announced an expanded partnership to provide critical infrastructure for the Lab’s Innovation Center. Hargray Fiber currently provides fiber connectivity for Curiosity Lab’s 1.5-mile autonomous vehicle test track.

Developing next generation use cases of smart city technology and autonomous mobility will require significant bandwidth and connectivity. To better foster technology innovation at Curiosity Lab, Hargray Fiber will now provide fiber connectivity for Innovation Center members at speeds of 1 gigabyte upload/download. While most providers offer point-to-point connectivity, Hargray Fiber’s diversified path for fiber creates a cyclical connection that minimizes service interruption and down-time. Hargray’s local presence also offers flexible support and service for Innovation Center members and Lab users. Curiosity Lab members will be able to benefit from Hargray Fiber’s service as part of their membership.

Hargray Fiber continues its expansion in the Peachtree Corners market and offers their full suite of communication products all delivered exclusively over Hargray’s 100% fiber-optic network. “Since its launch, Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners is a one-of-a-kind location for innovative smart city, wireless and autonomous vehicle companies to test and demo their technology,” said Chris McCorkendale, Senior Vice President, for Hargray Fiber. “Our partnership with Curiosity Lab will help these companies advance their technology and bring a broader and more robust suite of communication services to market.”

“The Hargray Fiber team is committed to helping Curiosity Lab grow its technology ecosystem through fast, uninterrupted network connectivity,” said Betsy Plattenburg, executive director of Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners. “They have worked with us and the City of Peachtree Corners to provide critical connectivity for our autonomous vehicle test track, and their local presence made them a natural choice to provide our Innovation Center residents with fiber connectivity as well.”

Companies who are interested in becoming a part of the Curiosity Lab ecosystem are welcome to apply. Curiosity Lab does not conduct original research but provides critical infrastructure to facilitate innovation by others.
